2026 Edge Xavier Griffin is one of the most popular names in the recruiting world, especially here in the Peach State. Offers continue to come in for this young player. He currently has 20 offers from major D1 programs including LSU, Auburn Georgia, Notre Dame, Alabama, Tennessee, USC, Florida State, Georgia Tech, and more. I am.
Griffin was on campus last week and left Georgia Tech with an offer. He reflected on his visit and what impressed him about the Yellow Jackets.
“Georgia Tech was amazing. I can't lie, I was amazed at how beautiful the campus was. There's a great atmosphere. The coaching staff was cool to be around. I was able to spend some one-on-one time with Coach Santucci and Coach Key, so we were able to really talk to each other about things other than football. “I'll definitely go back in the summer,'' Griffin said.
What impressed him most about Georgia Tech was the hospitality and vision of the program.
“The quad was filled with students. They had food trucks on campus and had one of the largest intramural fields I've ever seen. The vision that the key coaches and staff had was I definitely feel like they have the potential to change the world of college football, and I can't wait to see what they do next season,” Griffin said.
As a sophomore, Griffin had 52 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, nine sacks and seven quarterback grabs. His nine sacks led the team. His best game of the season was against South Paulding, where he recorded three sacks in a dominant effort.
Griffin is 6'4 and weighs 210 pounds with good size and strength. He is already quick with his first step and lives in the opponent's backfield. He's also a hard hitter when attacking downhill, forcing three fumbles in 2023. His instincts are off the charts and he's already analyzing read options at a high level. When you wrap his tape, you can see that he can easily identify where the ball is going.
Gainesville uses him in a myriad of ways, whether it's off the edge on both sides, in the middle of the defense, or even as a QB spy against an elite two-way quarterback. Although Griffin is still early in his career, he reminds me of Micah Parsons and how he is used by the Dallas Cowboys. He's a playmaker who can line up anywhere on the field on defense and will make plays and be disruptive. This type of player is a headache for offensive coordinators. Although he is still in the early stages of his career and development, the 2026 standout's potential is sky-high.
The Yellow Jackets continue to impress top recruits on campus visits thus far and are building very good momentum. Saturday's spring game will be another indicator of where this program is headed in the Brent Key era and whether they can build on success in 2023.
