BUTTE — The Montana Tech and Rocky Mountain College basketball programs met for the third and final time of the regular season Thursday night in Butte.
The Butlin Bears girls team and the 10th place Orediger boys team both had double-digit wins. The Rockies women finished their three-game series against Tech with two wins and one loss, while the Tech men achieved their third straight win over the Rockies.
In the girls' game, Morgan Baird and Brenna Lins both recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and they never trailed, building a 20-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and by halftime. They led 28-16. The win over Tech ended a three-game losing streak for the Rockies, improving to 15-9 overall and 4-8 against Frontier.
Tech (12-13, 3-9) was led by Aubrey Rademacher with 10 points and nine rebounds and Macy Meyer with 10 points.
In the boys game, the No. 10 Audigers were paced by Asa Williams' team-high 18 points, and Tech pulled away late in the first half to take a 46-33 lead into intermission. The Audigers then outscored the Rockies by 28 points in the second half, and Tech won seven straight games, all by double digits.
For Tech, Kamdyn Larance had 15 points and eight rebounds, and Hayden Dihans added 12 points and six boards. The Buttlin' Bears (11-14, 2-10) were paced by Cale Robinson with a game-high 26 points and Jesse Owens and Luka Brooks each with 10 points.
The Odiggers are currently 10-2 in Frontier play and will host a 9-2 Carroll University team on Saturday in Tech's final home game of the season. A win for the Odiggers in that game would guarantee them at least a share of the Frontier Conference title.
The Buttlin' Bears travel to MSU Northern on Saturday, then finish the regular season at home against Carroll College on February 22nd and Montana Western on February 24th.
