Salesforce (CRM) stock rose more than 2% on Wednesday after the company launched a new product focused on artificial intelligence on Slack.
Yahoo Finance's Dan Howley reports:
Slack, the popular workplace messaging app, has officially released Slack AI. An intelligent assistant, this bot is designed to help you easily keep up with the ever-growing list of work threads and channels plaguing your dreams.
Slack, a Salesforce company (CRM), has been testing Slack AI with a small number of early adopters, but now it's opening up the service to all customers, albeit as a paid add-on. However, Slack did not reveal the price of the offer.
Slack AI is broken down into three main features: thread summaries, channel summaries, and search options. To access a thread or channel summary, go to the appropriate thread or channel and click or tap the star in the top-right corner of the Slack window.
Slack AI runs through the content of a thread or channel and summarizes it into bite-sized lists with key topics and action items. The goal is to eliminate the hassle of scrolling through long conversations you might have missed while in a meeting, focused on other work, or out and about.
Jackie Rocca, vice president of product for Slack, said the feature is also useful in time-sensitive situations. One example she gave was an employee trying to respond to a customer issue. But the experts who would normally solve the problem are offline, and by the time they come online they have had long conversations about the problem with customers and other employees.
Instead of scrolling through conversations between customers and colleagues, professionals can use Slack AI to summarize chats and get the gist of what's happening right away.
The same general concept applies to channel summaries. You can choose to summarize recent conversations within the past 7 days or a specific time period.
