Two people were taken to the hospital after a fire broke out in Neskehoning, Carbon County.
A fire broke out at the home Sunday morning and spread to two other homes.
One person escaped by jumping from the second floor.
“When we arrived, there was fire coming from the second floor. Both buildings on both sides were at risk,” said Neske Honing Horse Company First Director John McArdle.
Neske Honing Horse Company President John McArdle said the fire was reported around 7:30 a.m. and he received an update that two people were trapped.
“We were able to confirm that the crew went inside and the occupants exited. One person jumped from the second floor,” Chief McArdle said.
The chief said one other person was treated at the scene and two others were taken to the hospital.
Chief McArdle said the dog was rescued.
“The dog actually came out on the second floor of the initial fire building and our crews went up right away,” Chief McArdle said.
He said two animals were lost in the fire.
“All residents of the adjoining residence were able to safely exit their home,” Chief McArdle said.
The Neskehoning VFW Post said one of its members lost everything as a result of the fire. Donations are also accepted.
The chief said 12 departments responded to the fire.
“Everyone did a good job,” McArdle said.
The state police fire marshal was dispatched and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
