Racing suffered a setback in the 20th minute when Kolisi was forced off the field shortly after an intentional carry and was stopped near Toulouse's try line.
The rest of the first half was a fierce battle with both teams trying to take control, but Lebel scored a great team try in the 34th minute to bring the game to life. This was after the ball passed through several sets of hands during the build-up, before Toulouse began their attack midway between their own 22 and halfway line.
Like the first try, Kinghorn's conversion attempt also went off target, so the teams changed sides at half-time, leaving Toulouse holding a 10–0 lead.
If they wanted anything from this game, Racing needed a response and they were ready to attack early in the second half.
However, there were many mistakes in their play, and the results of their efforts were hardly visible. Early in the second half, Cameron Wouki slipped through a gap in the Racing defense between the halfway line and Toulouse's 22 points, but despite no pressure from the home team's defence, he used one hand instead of two. I knocked it on while holding the ball.
Immediately after, the visitors looked to attack from a lineout on the halfway line, but this time Tedder took his eye off the ball while collecting a routine pass from Clovis Le Baille and was knocked on by Tedder.

However, this mistake was not costly. Costes either crossed or three minutes later collected a pass from Antoine Dupont, ran a great line and tipped over to score the try.
Then, in the 70th minute, Aki received a few passes from his teammates during the build-up and fired a five-point shot, sealing the home team's dominance.
In the final stages of the match, both teams showed plenty of attacking intent, and the game became a frenetic affair. In the end, Racing were rewarded with a five-pointer from Alous, but Toulouse had the last laugh with Luma's fifth try, sealing a dramatic victory and the Champions Cup. In the dying moments of the match, they decided to advance to the quarterfinals.
