Lendleman Orchards Immigrant House
CHICAGO, April 8, 2024 (Globe Newswire) — Landmarks Illinois has partnered with Vanterra Bank to fund two preservation efforts in southern Illinois. Southern Illinois Conservation Grant Program.
Matching grants were awarded to Rendleman Orchards Inc. in Alto Pass and Artspace 304 in Carbondale. Representatives from Landmarks Illinois and Vanterra Bank will be in Alto Pass on Tuesday, April 9th and in Carbondale on Thursday, April 11th to hand grant checks to recipients. Members of the public and members of the press are welcome to attend public events. Details of check presentation and grant recipients are below.
Immigrant Home, Rendleman Orchards, Inc. – Alto Pass
Located in the rolling hills of the Shawnee National Forest, Rendleman Orchards has been in operation since the 1870s. The family farm includes original outbuildings, such as a former immigrant home that provided essential accommodation for those working on the farm during the harvest season.
A $2,500 grant through the Landmarks Illinois Vanterra Bank Preserve Southern Illinois Grant Program will restore a currently uninhabitable immigrant home to educate and inspire visitors. Support Rendleman Orchards' efforts to help display pieces of the farm's history.
607 S. Illinois Ave., Artspace 304 – Carbondale
Artspace 304, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering the arts in southern Illinois, has restored a historic building at 607 S. Illinois Avenue in Carbondale's downtown commercial district as a secondary location for its programs. I am. The new interactive space will include a gallery, artist studios and classrooms, as well as a large retail area selling locally made artwork.
With the help of a $2,500 grant through the Landmarks Illinois Vanterra Bank Preserve Southern Illinois Grant Program, the organization will remove and replace the existing fence surrounding the building's front patio and create a more welcoming entrance. I'm planning to make one.
Grant Check Presentations – April 9th and 11th
Landmark Illinois and Vanterra Bank will host a check presentation ceremony for recent grant recipients this week. Check presentation at Rendleman Orchards, Inc., 9680 IL Rt. 127 on Alto Pass will be held on Tuesday, April 9th at 4:00 p.m. The Art Space 304 Check presentation will be held at 607 S. Illinois Ave. in Carbondale on Thursday, April 11th at 2:30 p.m.
