NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – The North Augusta Animal Shelter needs your help as the number of animals in the shelter increases.
Meet Bastian and Falcor. They had been at the North Augusta Animal Shelter for months and were in danger until they were adopted a few days ago.
This is a story that volunteers at evacuation centers often see.
“The North Augusta shelter is a small shelter. We only have one animal control officer, Craig McBride, and he has about 15 escapes. So the shelter fills up quickly. , we are always in need of foster homes,” said Stephanie Ford, adoption coordinator for the North Augusta Animal Friends.
Foster homes and adoptions can keep dogs alive and free volunteers from having to make difficult decisions.
“The shelter is very small and only has a capacity of 15 people, so when the shelter is full, we have to make tough decisions and dogs have to be euthanized,” Ford said.
The shelter currently has several dogs available for immediate adoption.
Coco, Topper, Winter and Buster are just a few who need your help.
“Dogs go from shelters that are shut down and probably not in the best conditions to finding forever homes and families. Because they are happy and part of the family, their health improves and their overall demeanor improves. It gets better,” Ford said.
For some of these dogs, you are the difference between life and death. If you are unable to adopt or foster, your donations can always be used to help keep the dogs in our care healthy.
Friends of North Augusta Animals purchases all veterinary supplies for the dogs. You can donate to continue this work.
