DENVER (KDVR) – The South Adams County Fire Department says a family is safe but several pets died in a house fire in Commerce City on Saturday.
The fire was “fully involved” when crews arrived at the scene near 62nd Avenue and Carney Street. SACFD said there were visible flames coming from the roof.
The fire department said there were no injuries and all residents were safely evacuated, but several pets “succumbed to the fire.”
The fire department said some nearby townhouses were damaged by high heat, strong winds and fire.
“Crews were able to pour water on the fire and prevent further damage to nearby buildings,” SACFD said in a post to X.
Members of several agencies responded to the rescue, and the American Red Cross will assist the family, SACFD said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
