A “dangerous” drug dealer who could not prove how he could afford a lavish lifestyle has been jailed.
Dominic Denton, 42, of Glamorgan Road, Ipswich, was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in prison at Ipswich Crown Court for a number of offenses including drug supply and money laundering.
Suffolk Police said officers were able to secure a guilty plea from Denton after a “long and complex” investigation and evidence from multiple sources.
Det Ch Insp Matt Bodmer said the force would “continue to work tirelessly to find those involved in this horrific industry that destroys families and preys on the most vulnerable.” Ta.
Evidence including CCTV, mobile phone data, financial investigations, drugs, phones and the seizure of large amounts of cash was used to prove the case.
During a follow-up to Mr Denton's arrest warrant and other locations associated with Mr Denton, officers found designer goods and an expensive car.
He also traveled regularly to Jamaica, where he had his own connections with real estate.
Officers were able to correlate drug activity in the Ipswich area with periods of reduced activity for certain drug trafficking lines, including the period Denton was in Jamaica.
Denton admitted two counts of being concerned in the supply of class A medicines, one count of money laundering and one count of fraud.
He was also sentenced to three years in prison for money laundering and three months for fraud, to be served concurrently.
