American Express plans to build new travel and lifestyle super app
As competition intensifies among major banks to serve premium customers across travel, dining and experiences, American Express is looking to hire a leader to help build the foundation for its new app.
Chase is on track to follow American Express and become the third-largest travel company behind Expedia and Booking.com. Chase is working on integrating points, online travel booking, lounges, and dining/lifestyle into its broader ecosystem, a project he was supposed to have “done” a year ago.
American Express has acquired Resy and is flying its own flag in the dining industry. The company is ahead of Chase in the number of airport lounges it opens, and also owns LoungeBuddy, which provides global lounge advice tailored to its own lounges as well as all partner lounges. And they started out as a high-volume travel agency, focusing on premium customers.

American Express appears to be working on a new initiative that brings all these elements together. A mobile app is being developed to provide travel planning, reservations and services and highlight American Express benefits at each step of the journey, including lounge access and reservations. Restaurant reservations and experience reservations.
They are looking for a senior manager to drive this initiative.
We are looking for a Senior Manager of Product Development to support TLS in designing, developing and delivering the first-ever travel and lifestyle bookings and servicing mobile-native booking experiences. We not only provide our customers with native mobile travel and lifestyle shopping and travel booking, but we also provide support for your travel lifecycle, including travel inspiration and planning, post-booking services, and post-travel services. We want to act as a true companion every step of the way. Enhancing travel engagement and benefits.
The incumbent will be a product manager and human resources leader who will help drive the team's vision, drive the product roadmap, coordinate and manage internal and external development and engineering teams, and collaborate with internal and external partners. The successful candidate will also support our efforts to ensure native experiences are interoperable, synchronized, and complementary with other core AXP enterprise app migrations.

The travel and lifestyle “super app” is difficult This is why, despite acquiring online and offline travel agencies, launching dining partnerships and launching a purchasing advice site, Chase still hasn't really done it enthusiasmis working with Collinson Group to build airport lounges.
American Express has a similar product, and Capital One is assembling one as major card issuers seek a larger share of wallet spending from wealthy, experience-seeking consumers. I'm not sure I understand any of this correctly, but the investments being made in different areas are creating opportunities for consumers. Every time a major bank invests millions of dollars in a new initiative, we too can benefit.
