A major U.S. law firm has hired financial regulation partner Sebastian Berling from Magic Circle LLP, according to people familiar with the matter.
Mr. Birling has been with Linklaters for approximately 13 years and was promoted to partner in 2018. He previously worked at Reed Smith Co., where he worked for four years.
Linklaters has been hit hard in recent months by a series of partner withdrawals from top U.S. law firms.

Financial News first reported that David Irvin, the firm's co-head of leveraged finance, left the firm for Gibson Dunn last February.
Corporate partner Dan Schuster-Waldan left Linklaters in January, following private equity M&A partner Will Aitken-Davies and antitrust partner Nicole Kerr, to join Paul in London. -Joined Mr. Weiss.
Late last year, Leverage Finance partner Noel Hughes also moved from Linklaters to Skadden.
Last month, Susana Cao Miranda, a litigation partner at Linklaters, left the firm to join litigation firm Paras Partners.
Recent hires at Linklaters include Katie Coltart, intellectual property partner at Kirkland & Ellis, and Bruce Kilpatrick, head of competitions at Addleshaw Goddard.
Mr Burling's hiring follows Mr Skadden's recruitment of Delphine Georgie from Debevoise and Plimpton schools last month as head of European secondaries, along with Laurence Hainsworth and Aaron McPherson. I was disappointed.

Skadden also hired leveraged finance specialist Sebastian Fitzgerald from rival US law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher in December.
Last year, Skadden promoted private equity partner Richard Yule to head the firm's London office. Youle was a partner at Linklaters and White & Case before joining his Skadden in 2017.
The US law firm moved from its previous base in Canary Wharf to 22 Bishopsgate in the city in 2022.
Skadden generated about $3.3 billion in revenue last year, with an average profit of $5.4 million per equity partner.
