“I think these are really great ways to express yourself and really accessible,” Middleton Sizemore Said. “Accessible in this case means that it takes very few materials or money to make a zine.”
Adriana Torresartist of Lexington, North Carolina, Said She was drawn to making zines because they are cheap, easy to make, and can be made of just about anything.
Torres started by making zines about politics, but now he's Said Her artwork is a way for her to preserve childhood memories.
“I try to expand my work to be more personal and focus on my culture and background,” she says. Said. “I'm thinking about some things related to being Mexican-American and having immigrant parents. I also want to introduce that because there isn't a lot of that in the zine community.”
