Agewell Carpinteria, the newest division of Carpinteria's Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, now offers programs and services designed for individuals age 55 and older. AgeWell offers a variety of activities and supports tailored to the needs of older adults in the city.
“There is a huge demand for programs, especially for seniors, and we are thrilled that the city has prioritized us in this effort,” said Carpinteria resident, who spearheaded AgeWell's launch. Roz Kohute said.
The program offers activities throughout the week, including sing-alongs, craft sessions, meditation classes, and book clubs.
Our most popular program is our specialized exercise classes that focus on mind-body balance.
“Our goal is to foster a sense of community and belonging in an aging population that often faces feelings of isolation and disconnection,” said Jenna Jenkins, Agewell program coordinator.
In addition to comprehensive programs, AgeWell has established partnerships with various agencies to provide critical services such as free lunch programs and food distribution for seniors.
