After a strong finish to the 2023 season, there are a lot of interesting things to see about what the 2024 Virginia Tech football season will look like. The Hokies return a number of talented players on both sides of the ball, including quarterback Kyron Drones, running back Beishul Tuten, and four wide receivers.
On the defensive end, Virginia Tech returns Antoine Powell-Ryland along the line and returns Mansour Delane and Dorian Strong to the secondary. Head coach Brent Pry has acquired three key defensive linemen into the transfer portal in hopes of having one of the better units in the ACC next season.
The hype surrounding the Hokies next fall appears to be spreading to college football writers across the country. CBS Sports believes he is one of 10 teams that could make some noise, with Virginia Tech in the top 25.
“Brent Pry will benefit from increased scarcity heading into 2024, with all 11 offensive starters currently returning,” the Hokies’ second-year coach said. .That includes QB Kyron Drones, whose name is expected in 2024.”

Virginia Tech should be a top 25 team in the summer when the first rankings are released. Their key players have spent at least one season in Blacksburg with Pry and his staff and are currently taking a full offseason to prepare for 2024, so the schedule is better than when the 2023 season began. It should be much earlier than that.
As far as being a dark horse in the ACC, that's totally true. Their ACC schedule is not insurmountable. Miami and Clemson are the two toughest schools on the schedule. Neither the cross-country trip to Stanford nor the trip to Syracuse will be easy, but both could be very winnable for the Hokies.
It's safe to say that CBS Sports has the same thoughts as Virginia Tech fans regarding the 2024 season.
